Update (29 September 2025): The CBSE-MoD-MoE partnership has formally announced CBSE Veer Gatha 5.0 for the academic year 2025-26 under Circular No. Acad-64/2025 (dated 11 Sept 2025). Schools across India (including abroad) will now submit entries through the MyGov portal at innovateindia.mygov.in/veer-gatha-5. This edition emphasises Samarik Parampara — the military traditions and valor of Indian warriors — and encourages multimodal submissions like short-videos, anchoring and reporting. Key dates: 10 Oct to 31 Oct 2025 for final submission; district/state evaluations in November; national winners announced by 30 Dec 2025. All participating schools are encouraged to establish a “Veer Gatha Corner” to showcase student-work and promote patriotism.
The CBSE Veer Gatha 5.0 Project for 2025-26 has been announced by CBSE in collaboration with the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the Ministry of Education (MoE). This initiative encourages students to learn about the brave acts of Gallantry Award winners and express their inspiration through poems, essays, paintings, drawings, and multimedia projects. Schools will conduct activities at their level, shortlist the best entries, and upload them on the MyGov portal between 1st – 15th October 2025. Winners will be selected at district, state/UT, and national levels, with 100 “Super 100” winners at the national level receiving awards and recognition.

What is the Veer Gatha 5.0 Project?
Started in 2021, the Veer Gatha Project aims to instill patriotism, civic values, and respect for India’s armed forces among students. By researching and presenting the stories of Gallantry Award winners, students not only learn history but also imbibe values of courage, sacrifice, and responsibility.
Theme changes: This edition includes focus on “Samarik Parampara” (military tradition / strategies of Indian warriors and gallantry awardees) and new tech/media entry components (videography, reporting, anchoring) as per ministerial direction.
Activities & Categories for Veer Gatha 5.0
Students can participate in various art-integrated and interdisciplinary activities, depending on their grade level.
Preparatory Stage (Grades 3–5)
- Activities: Poem, Paragraph (150 words), Painting, Drawing
- Topics:
- My role model is [Gallantry Award Winner] and the values I learnt from them.
- [Gallantry Award Winner] gave the supreme sacrifice; I would honor their memory by…
- Stories of warriors like King Kharavela, Prithviraj Chauhan, Shivaji, or freedom fighters of 1857.
Middle Stage (Grades 6–8)
- Activities: Poem, Paragraph (300 words), Painting, Drawing, Multimedia Presentation, Short Video (Storytelling/Anchoring/Reporting)
Secondary Stage (Grades 9–12)
- Activities: Poem, Essay (750 words), Painting, Drawing, Multimedia Presentation, Short Video (Storytelling/Anchoring/Reporting)
Timelines for Veer Gatha 5.0
- 11th – 31st October 2025:
Awareness sessions and interactions with Gallantry Award winners (virtual/face-to-face) + Activities conducted at school level. - 10 October to 31 October 2025
Schools to upload best 1 entry per category (total 4 entries per school) on the MyGov portal. - After Submission:
Evaluation at District → State/UT → National Level.

Levels of Selection & Awards
- District Level: 4 winners (one per category)
- State/UT Level: 8 winners (2 per category; 4 from secondary stage)
- National Level: 100 winners (Super 100) – 25 from Grades 3–5, 25 from Grades 6–8, and 50 from Grades 9–12.
Felicitation
- National Winners (Super 100): Felicitated jointly by MoE & MoD; each gets a cash prize of ₹10,000 + certificate.
- State/UT Winners: Felicitated by State Education Departments.
- District Winners: Felicitated by District Authorities.

Last Year’s Results & Growing Momentum
The popularity of CBSE / CBSE-partnered events has surged year by year — last year’s participation figures show the scale and enthusiasm among students. For example, Project Veer Gatha 4.0 drew approximately 1.76 crore students from 2.31 lakh schools across India.

Earlier editions also saw a steady rise: about 8 lakh students in Edition 1 (2021-22), 19.5 lakh in Edition 2 (2022-23), and ~1.36 crore in Edition 3 (2023-24).
On the Science Exhibition front, schools like Amanora (Pune) had over 100 teams from 70+ schools in the regional round, showing how local interest is also strong.
Such numbers show not just a competition, but a movement — students, teachers and schools are increasingly engaging with these events, treating them as platforms for creativity, innovation, and recognition.
